DTA in the East Midlands

The East Midlands region covers the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland. It is a region of great diversity, with communities in vibrant cities, market towns, areas shaped by mining, rural areas, a coast line, a national park and a world heritage site. We have members across the region who work with their communities to find solutions to economic, social and environmental problems.

The DTA in the East Midlands exists to support the establishment of new development trusts; support existing development trusts to work more effectively; and to promote the development trust model within the region. We also work with others to promote community enterprise and to support communities to find entrepreneurial answers to problems not tackled by the public and private sectors.

Through the networking opportunities we facilitate, we support a learning community in which development trusts share skills, knowledge, experiences, and give and gain support. We organise a programme of networking meetings and learning opportunities for members and the wider social enterprise field.

Our services to members and potential members include:

  • Support to organisations seeking to become development trusts
  • Advice and information for existing development trusts
  • Advice on asset-based development and asset transfer
  • Help with strategic planning
  • Support on organisational development through the role of critical friend in the application of the DTA Health Check
  • Encouragement to develop enterprise ideas through the application of the DTA's Enterprise Accelerator
  • Support to organise knowledge and skills exchange visits
  • Regional networking meetings East Midlands Update
