Welcome to the DTA in the North West
The DTA movement in the North West is made up a vibrant and active membership who readily share their skills and experience with the rest of the movement; bringing ample opportunities for networking and peer learning through regional network meetings, conferences, seminars, consultancy, mentoring and exchange visits.
There are 42 Full and Emerging trust members in the region.
The North West region covers Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Greater Merseyside and Lancashire. We have members the length and breadth of the region. They are community owned and led; they sustain their activities into the future to bring about long term social, economic and environmental benefits to their communities; working across the sectors, they bring the benefits of collaboration to their communities; being community anchor organisations, they’re there for the long term and through their entrepreneurial and resourceful approach, they bring wealth into their communities and keep it there.

The main activities of the DTA in the North West are to:
- Help people to set up new development trusts
- Help development trust to work more effectively
- Influence others to support our movement.
In particular, the DTA in the North West promotes networking between members to inspire and inform through regular network meetings, events and exchange visits.

Our members give to the movement because the way the DTA works is very much about the whole being greater than the sum of the individual parts. So, everyone puts into the pot and we have what we call a “Give/Get” relationship with our members. It is after all, the input from individual practitioners, organisations and DTA staff that enables us to provide such a wide, varied and fit for purpose mix of support. With support from our members and partners, the DTA has developed an impressive range of products and services to support development trusts and other community enterprises in strengthening their organisations, for example, click on: products and services and whilst you’re there, have a good look about the site, there’s lots of treasures that may stay hidden for want of a good root around.
