Community Cafe - The Sunlight Trust, Gillingham, Kent
Welcome to the DTA in the south east.
Our region spreads from the Isle of Wight, via Milton Keynes and across to Thanet in Kent. We have 21 full and emerging members across the region.
Membership in the south east is growing rapidly – with many more community organisations in the pre-application stage. Currently our 14 full members turnover more than £3m p.a. and have the full-time equivalent of 100 + employees.
The work of the regional team centres on the four core values of the DTA; supporting existing member trusts, assisting additional communities who wish to consider the development trust approach, persuading others within the region of the value of the development trust movement and running the organisation within the region effectively. DTA staff in the south east support existing and emerging development trusts, as well as informing and supporting community and social enterprise development throughout our sector. The quarterly regional network meeting is a core component of our work. Networking, training and mentoring are our strengths.
DTA SE works in partnership regionally, sub regionally as well as locally. We work hard to provide our members with a voice in regional agencies as well as providing the voice of community enterprise to those involved in strategic work with both the regional development agency and with regional government office.
