DTA South West Region has produced a manifesto called 'Assets for Enterprising Communities', aimed at focussing the attention and energies of public sector bodies and regional decision makers towards progressing asset based development and community enterprise in the south west.
The Manifesto can be downloaded here: SWassetsmanifesto.pdf
Several key bodies have already given their support, and work will now start to broaden that support and develop detailed actions with each body to take the manifesto forward.
The manifesto already has the support ofthe following organisations:
“The South West RDA’s role to lead the development of a sustainable economy in South West England, using investment to unlock the region’s business potential, clearly aligns with the DTAs manifesto to transform communities. South West RDA and the Development Trusts Association will work together with other partners to inspire community and social enterprise and ensure that our actions complement each other”.
Nigel Williams, Partnership Manager, South West RDA
“There is considerable potential for voluntary and community organizations in the South West to develop assets and opportunities for enterprise. Unlocking this potential requires access to high quality support and serious commitment from local and regional public agencies.”
Stephen Woollett, Chief Executive, South West Forum
‘Barriers to entrepreneurial approaches must be addressed at all levels. The acquisition of physical assets is an important component in developing independent income streams for many social enterprises working in local communities. For this reason, RISE supports the DTA’s Assets Manifesto and is actively working with the DTA and other support organisations to address the barriers to establishing and maintaining successful businesses.’
Lucy Findlay, RiSE
