Yorkshire & Humberside

Yorkshire and the Humber has 60 Development Trusts, encompassing a fantastic diversity of communities and activities.

ABL. Action for Business Ltd in Bradford run the Carlisle Business Centre, one of many examples of quality managed workspace projects in our region.

Hull - Goodwin Development Trust launched the first Community Warden scheme in the UK, overseeing a 50% reduction in local crime.

Whatever the focus - green space development, managed workspace, education and training, childcare, and many more - you will find countless examples of best practice in our region, including the award-winning Manor and Castle Development Trust.

Co-ordinated by our regional staff, we also have a well-established network, and we believe in peer-learning among community enterprise practitioners. This exists at both a local and regional level.

Once or twice a year our “larger trusts” get together for a short residential to shared good practice and discuss the critical issues facing the sector.

And we hold regular network meetings for our increasing number of members - we are making significant progress towards the DTA aim of having a “Development Trust in every community that wants one”.

Heeley, Sheffield - Previously neglected open space, now a superbly maintained local asset in ownership for over 120 years thanks to Heeley Development Trust Heeley Development Trust
