Demonstrating Community Asset Transfer - One Year On

One year on, much learning can be gained from the success of the first 20 pilot projects of the Advancing Assets for Communities programme. Read case study examples from these projects and the programme report.

The DTA-led Advancing Assets for Communities programme began in May 2007 with a demonstration programme in 20 local authority areas. The success of the first 20 pilot projects has led to an expansion of the programme and over the next two years a further 60 partnerships between local authorities and their community sector partners will be supported with expert advice for developing joint plans for asset transfer.

The programme is funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government and coordinated by the DTA in a delivery partnership which includes the Adventure Capital Fund (ACF), Action for Communities in Rural England (ACRE), the Local Government Association (LGA) and Community Matters.

At the DTA national conference in Leeds in September 2008, the Advancing Assets programme published a report: Demonstrating Community Asset Transfer - Year One. This report provides an in depth analysis of the first year of the Advancing Assets programme and provides a selection of case studies from among the first 20 pilot projects.
