Investing in Communities

The DTA is working to ensure that communities can access relevant investment. We are working alongside our partners in the sector on the Better Banking Campaign to tackle financial exclusion; towards a Community Reinvestmet Act; supporting communities to access innovative sources of finance including community share and bond issues; and supporting the setup of a Social Investment Wholesale Bank.

In our Manifesto Trust in communities, we call on goverment to act in a number of areas to ensure that much needed support and resources is invested into community enterprise and asset development.

Our experience has been that investment readiness assistance, development finance, rapid and flexible finance for capital development (grants, patient loans, and equity), and post investmet business support to ensure sustainable enterprise, are all in short supply.

The Development Trusts Association alongside our partners are working to ensure further investment in communities that will deliver the capital foundation and organisational capability for the next 500 years. We are also working in a number of issue areas that will support development trusts and help them to consider a variety of innovative investment sources.
