The Development Trusts Association brings together over 350 development trusts, with a combined turnover of more than £210m. While most operate in an urban context, over a third operate in rural settings.
Most development trusts are already engaged in service delivery in the four priority areas for futurebuilders, operating in local communities and communities of interest which have suffered deprivation and service failure. They adopt a range of community enterprise approaches, encouraging self-help, community asset building and trading, as a means to deliver sustained service improvements.
Having consulted with practitioner members, and as a partner in the Adventure Capital Fund, the DTA responded to the initial conultation and will continue to provide feedback to Futurebuillders on behalf of development trusts.
