Government & Private Sector
The DTA is working closely with government departments and the private sector to promote the work of development trusts and attract investment to the community sector
The DTA is represented on a group which meets with the Minister for Social Enterprise to review progress of the government’s strategy on social enterprise. We have worked closely with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) officials to advise them of implications for our members of the proposed Community Interest Company legal form. We also played a lead role in a Community Sector Coalition conference, designed to reinforce the distinctive role of community enterprise within the wider social enterprise umbrella. DTA is also a strategic partner in Voice, a strategic partnership between the Office of the Third Sector (OTS) and the third sector. In the regions, we have continued to develop links with regional development agencies and government offices, and are increasingly building relationships at a sub-regional level. The structural and policy environment in the different regions has become more complex and this presents challenges for our movement. Nevertheless, the value of development trusts is increasingly recognised.
