Next Community Cafe course will be held on Thursday 10 April 2008.

The DTA and Sunlight Development Trust run a series of courses on "So you want to run a Community Cafe" Forthcoming event dates will be published when available.

This one day course will give participants a through and realistic introduction to what is involved in running a Community Cafe.

Some of the things we will do:

  • Consider why you want a cafe
  • Help you understand the business planning processes.
  • Consider the main uses of marketing within a cafe business.
  • Review why so many community cafes close and help you avoid the pitfalls.

Some of the things we won't do:

  • Tell you we know everything and that you should do it our way!
  • Write your business plan for you
  • Tell you what to sell and for how much
  • Convince your trustees, managers or funders that your idea is a good one.

The course will be held at the Sunlight Centre in Gillingham, Kent and will include lunch and a tour of their vibrant and successful cafe.

Costs:


DTA members £145 + VAT
Voluntary and not for profit organisations £175 + VAT
Public / Private sector organisations £210 + VAT
