Membership HealthCheck

The DTA Healthcheck is based on what a development trust is:
- Engaged in economic, social and environmental regeneration of a defined area or community
- Independent and aiming for self-sufficiency/not for private profit
- Community based, owned and managed
- Actively involved in partnerships between the community, voluntary, private and public sectors

How did it come about?

The DTA's strategic review in 2001 identified the need to promote and raise quality within the sector and among the membership. The DTA Healthcheck is a good way to do this without being prescriptive or a burden on development trusts themselves.

Who is it for?

The DTA Healthcheck is designed for all development trusts serious about doing a good job. Whether you're large or small, new or old, rural or urban based, or work with a specific community of interest - the DTA Healthcheck can help you. The DTA Healthcheck was created to maximise the potential for development trusts. Therefore we strongly recommend that in undertaking the DTA Healthcheck you involve both staff and board members. The information you gather as part of the DTA Healthcheck will be kept confidential unless you agree to share the outcomes for specific purposes.

Is there help and how much will it cost?

The DTA Healthcheck is free of charge to all full DTA members. This package includes a free consultation with a DTA staff member to help you draw up programme of action to tackle the issues you identify through the DTA Healthcheck. You could use the DTA Healthcheck as part of a strategic review and tailored workshops are available on request. Contact your regional office for the to discuss your requirements and the cost.

How much time will it take?

It is advisable for organisations to spend at least half a day completing the DTA Healthcheck. Involving staff and board members will take longer however, it is generally viewed this will be more beneficial to your organisation.
