The Health and Safety Commission believes that workers who have a voice, influence and responsibility on Health and Safety matters are safer and healthier than those who do not; increasing worker involvement is a key element of their strategy of which this programme is a part.
The Health and Safety Executive have funded this programme which has been carefully designed by the Development Trusts Association and Community Ventures Limited with Development Trusts in mind whether they be large or small, new or well-established.
The Development Trusts Association will:
- appoint a Workers’ Safety Advisor who will work with your trust for about five days. This includes three days at your workplace(s); and
- introduce your organisation to the programme with an induction for two representatives at a venue yet to be arranged
Your organisation, and your Workers’ Safety Advisor, will be closely supported by an experienced consultant who will be provided by Community Ventures Limited.
With your Workers’ Safety Advisor you will:
- identify health and safety priorities for your organisation based on an assessment of risks;
- embark on an on-going partnership with your workers based on collaboration and trust;
- achieve real progress towards ensuring workplace safety and health;
- achieve real progress towards ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the vast array of related Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance;
- measure impact and success against agreed evaluation criteria; and
- have the opportunity to contribute towards a case study
