Opportunity for Community Alliance members to receive funding to employ 18-24 year olds: Bids are now open for the Future Jobs Fund. This scheme has £1.2billion to fund 150,000 new jobs for young people and is looking for bids from charities, social enterprises and large third sector organisations. In particular, it is looking for partnership bids.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the programme's 3rd round, through which we will demonstrate in 30 selected areas how local authorities and community-led third sector organisations can be supported to develop joint plans for community asset transfer.

During the 2009 DTA national conference a quilting team from the Cresco Trust, a member in Northern Ireland, began producing a DTA quilt including blocks from member trusts across the country. As the global economic crisis deepens, many of our members may be wondering how the credit crunch will affect their own organisations and the community enterprise sector as a whole. Here are some items for consideration from the DTA.

On 3 April 2008, CLG launched a consultation document on Eco-towns which provides information on the 15 proposals going forward for further assessment and how the final ten locations will be selected later in 2008. The consultation closes on 30 June.

On 20 March, the DTA submitted the following response to a consultation paper by the Department for Communities and Local Government on local petitions and 'Calls for Action':
